🌳 TOUR TO THE ABISEO RIVER NATIONAL PARK
The Río Abiseo National Park (PNRA) is located on the Amazonian slope of the Eastern Andes mountain range, west of the town of Huicungo, in the department of San Martín. It covers an area of 274,520 hectares. Its main objective is to protect a representative sample of the cloud forests of the jungle brow and high jungle, which includes various areas of endemism.
🌿 Its presence also seeks to preserve flora and fauna species and associations in their natural state, particularly those that are vulnerable or in danger of extinction. Likewise, the PNRA seeks to maintain the ecological balance of the cloud forests, in order to ensure the hydrological stability of the Abiseo, Túmac and Montecristo river basins.
🔬 This place is an excellent platform to support and encourage research into our natural and cultural resources. Cultural resources and scenic beauties are preserved inside, where the archaeological complex of Gran Pajatén and Los Pinchudos stands out.

🗺️ Itinerary :
The meeting point is at the Amberes - Juanjuí Port and the departure time is from 7 am to 7:30 am at the latest. Once your life jackets are put on, we will take our river transport towards the Huicungo district. The trip will last approximately 1 hour (20 minutes sailing the Huallaga River and 40 minutes sailing the Huayabamba River). Upon arrival in the district, we will spend approximately 1 hour having breakfast (regional food).
🚤 We continue the tour on the riverboat to the country house, approximately 1 hour (20 minutes sailing the Huayabamba River and 40 minutes sailing the Abiseo River) with beautiful landscapes (flora and fauna) throughout the trip. Arriving at the country house, the guide will designate your respective rooms where you can leave all your things (backpack, suitcases, etc.). There you can see swings, a lookout point in a tree, timber trees and a wide variety of crops.
👟 Afterwards, we will board the river transport again where we will only carry swimwear, a change of clothes and shoes appropriate for hiking. We will continue sailing the Abiseo River for approximately 20 minutes to reach the checkpoint, where the corresponding names, ID, age and nationality will be placed for registration. We continue our journey towards the Shihui waterfall (if weather conditions permit), sailing for approximately 1 hour. We will enjoy the waterfall that has a height of 80 meters and a crystal-clear green pool, where we will enjoy this wonder for approximately 30 minutes.
🏞️ Returning downriver, we head towards the Maquisapa waterfall, approximately 20 minutes by river transport. Arriving at the riverbank, we take a 10-minute walk to reach the Maquisapa waterfall, we will enjoy this wonder for approximately 30 minutes and return to the boat to go downriver towards the Timón waterfalls, where we will be for 30 minutes. Continuing our tour, 5 minutes downriver we will arrive at the Churo cave, where you will have to swim the stream for approximately 15 minutes to reach the cave.
🏡 We return to the boat to head to the country house, 20 minutes downriver. Once at the country house, you can shower, change, and have lunch (regional food). At nightfall, we gather to make the campfire, all the members of the company and all the tourists will share their experiences, tasting short drinks. This has a schedule that lasts until 11 pm. For the next day, we will have breakfast starting at 8 am and we will leave for the French Caves by sailing the Abiseo River for 20 minutes upriver, and then take a walk of approximately an hour and a half. We will arrive at the French Cave, this cave is mixed because it has land and water. You enter on foot and we end up in an underground ravine. This expedition inside the cave lasts approximately two hours. Once we have visited the French Cave, we begin the return trip, remembering that it is the only way to enter and exit this tourist area, so we return the same way, walking until we reach the river boat.
🌄 To go to the cottage, 20 minutes downriver. Once at the cottage, you can shower, change, and have lunch. After doing all of the above, we will return to Juanjuí on the river boat. The trip will be 2 hours long, arriving at the city of Juanjuí approximately at 5 to 6 pm on the same day.
